Your First Visit at Complete Physio Richmond

Your First Physiotherapy Visit

Seeing a physiotherapist for the first time can feel uncertain, especially if you’ve been managing a long-term or complex injury. At Complete, our aim is to make your first visit clear, supportive and confidence-building.

Expert Care From Your First Appointment

You’ll see a highly experienced physiotherapist – part of a team trusted by Melbourne specialists and consultants for their expertise in managing difficult or persistent injuries. Our clinicians combine hands-on skill with leading research knowledge to provide accurate diagnosis and realistic treatment options that can help you.

What Happens During Your First Appointment?

Comprehensive Assessment

Your physiotherapist will take time to understand your history, symptoms, lifestyle and goals. A detailed physical examination follows, and where appropriate, in-clinic ultrasound imaging may be used to better understand your injury. Treatment typically begins at your first appointment, so you’ll leave with a clear starting point and practical steps to begin your journey to improving.

Accurate Diagnosis and Clear Explanation

You’ll receive a clear explanation of your diagnosis, including why your injury may have been slow to recover and what needs to change to help you move forward. We spend time carefully assessing your condition to identify the root cause — not just the symptoms — so your treatment addresses what really matters.

Personalised Treatment Plan

Your physio will develop a structured, evidence-based plan tailored to you. This may include exercise prescription, load management, manual therapy and guidance on activity progression.

Education and Ongoing Support

Understanding your condition is key to recovery. You’ll receive practical education and advice on what you can do between sessions to stay active and confident.

How Long Is a Physiotherapy Session?

Session length depends on your needs and the clinician you see.

Initial consultations are 45–60 minutes (which is longer than most clinics)  allowing time for a thorough assessment, diagnosis and treatment plan.

Follow-up consultations are 30 minutes to ensure ongoing, high-quality care. Your clinician may recommend longer sessions if your injury requires it.
