Clinical Pilates Classes Richmond

What is Clinical Pilates?

Clinical Pilates is a form of low impact exercise that focuses on strength, balance, mobility, and control. It can be utilised for rehabilitation after an injury or surgery and is also a great form of exercise for people who are pre or post-natal. The classes are physiotherapy led and are individualised to you and your goals. Classes are kept small to ensure that you are provided with individual feedback from your physiotherapist. We’ve recently added more times to make it easier for you to make your health a priority.

Clinical Pilates FAQ

A wide range of people can benefit – young, older, injured, uninjured and regardless of fitness level.

All exercises are individually tailored to each person, ensuring safety and benefits for people of all physical capabilities.

Results depend on your particular injury or goal, but as a general rule most people who participate 1-2 times a week will see notable improvements after 10-12 weeks. We may take some measurements to test your strength and function before you start so that your program can be tailored to your needs. These measures are reviewed over time to ensure you are continuing to improve and benefit, and to further tailor your program.

There are SO many benefits to establishing a regular exercise routine. A decreased risk of heart disease and stroke, better cardiorespiratory fitness and mental health benefits, just to name a few!

At Complete. Physio Exercise Performance we have four different pieces of Pilates equipment that we can utilise throughout your session. These include the Reformer, the Trapeze Table, the Wunder Chair and the Barrel. Exercises can be made harder or easier on the equipment by changing the resistance of springs or modifying the movement being completed. The equipment can also assist with mobility exercises and introduce new or challenging movements for your body.

Yes, Clinical Pilates is safe during pregnancy and is a great way to continue to do exercise whilst pregnant. All exercises that require you to lay on your back are modified from 16 weeks, or sometimes earlier, depending on the individual. Clinical Pilates is also a great option post-partum when re-introducing exercise after giving birth.

Clinical Pilates is for everyone, whether you have an injury, are pregnant, or would like to improve your core stability, balance and/or general health.

All people will require an initial consultation with a Physiotherapist prior to joining group classes, to ensure a safe and personalised program. You can book this appointment online or give our Reception team a call.

The classes are conducted at our Richmond clinic and supervised by our physiotherapists who have high levels of expertise.

All sessions are 60mins in length and have four people to a class.
